Bring with you to tryout:

Due to COVID-19, equipment (other than softballs) will not be provided nor should personal equipment be shared.

  • Glove
  • Bat
  • Batting Helmet
  • Water bottle/drink

What to expect at tryouts:

Each player should expect to go through a series of stations centered on softball fundamental skills including infield, outfield, throwing, and hitting.  Pitchers and catchers will also be evaluated on their overall ability to perform the basic tasks of those positions, in addition to the skills listed above.

Each station will have a station leader that will instruct players as to what is being evaluated and what they are expected to do while at that station.

Important Notes:

  • Check-in at the table when you arrive at the field. Players will be assigned a number.
    • Arrive 20 mins early to check-in and warm-up (off the field)
  • If your player would like to tryout up (max = 1 class), she should elect to attend the tryout for that class.
    • If trying out up, the player will NOT also need to tryout for the player's birth year UNLESS the ball or pitching distance is different (i.e. the ball gets bigger & the pitching distance gets farther from 10u-->11u AND the pitching distance changes again from 12u-->13u). To tryout "up," the player needs to prove themselves with the bigger ball and/or at farther pitching distance. Trying out at both classes also allows the player to default back to play at their birth year class, if necessary.
  • All parents/observers are asked to stay on the hill and not be next to the fields.
  • All parents/observers shall follow CDC social distancing and Park requirements.
  • There is no tryout fee this year.
